DUNCAN COWLES
Duncan is a BAFTA Scotland winning non-fiction filmmaker and director living and working in Edinburgh, whose left-field films are known for their heart and their humour.
Many of Duncan's films and TV work for the likes of Channel 4, BBC and brands such as TED & Adobe include his comedic deadpan voiceovers which have become known as a signature trait of his work. His latest feature documentary film Silent Men was released in UK cinemas in 2024 and listed on GQ’s ‘Best Documentaries to Watch’ list.
Keen to expand on his audio storytelling, Duncan has also produced a couple of BBC Radio 4 pieces, one of which followed his attempts at tracking down Pierce Brosnan to find out why he never replied to his 10year old James Bond fan mail that he'd sent.
Duncan has directed voiceover artists from the other side of the glass as a filmmaker for commercial, corporate and charity purposes. In a few cases, clients have even opted to choose Duncan's temp voiceover guide in the edit as exactly what they were looking for...
